Wizards, Wardrobes & Wookies Book Review

I enjoyed the book, Wizards, Wardrobes and Wookies by Connie Neal. It will give you a brief overview of Star Wars, Harry Potter and Chronicles of Narnia. The book is not designed to analyze these movies and books, but to review then through The Hero’s Journey. Connie Neal writes:

Some of the most powerful literature is made up of fantastic stories—fairy tales, fantasy fiction, folklore and myths….The basic story line shared by such stories has come to be known popularly as “the hero’s journey,’ chronicling unlikely heroes who grow to confront evil and overcome evil with good. (p. 12)

She also adds stories from Scripture that also follow this pattern. As one who slept through college English, I found it fascinating how these amazing stories follow a predictable pattern that all people can relate. This book will help you see these three stories and Scripture in a new way, focusing on the power of story.
